Abstract

This paper proposes a new wide-band phase shifter for mmWave phased array applications. The proposed phase shifter is compact and has both a low absolute insertion loss and low insertion loss variation. The wide-band frequency characteristics is obtained by simple but effective matching technique. The phase shifter is based on loading a CPW line with a high dielectric constant BLT ceramic. For a sample with a length of 4mm, a phase shift of 360o at 33 GHz is obtained while the average insertion loss is less than 1.4dB for a bandwidth of more than 20 GHz.
