Abstract
The disclosure and affirmation of sexually fluid, bisexual, and pansexual identities are essential to the work of sexuality educators and other professionals. There is limited research supporting evidence-based practice in serving bisexual populations, particularly racial-ethnic minorities. This chapter examines the motivations of bisexual Latino men to have sex with men and women. After reading this chapter, sexuality educators will: (1) identify the influences of cultural constructs in Latinx social environments on motivations to have sex, (2) become familiar with Latino bisexual men’s hierarchy of motivations to have sex; and (3) be able to describe the associations between bisexual Latino men’s sexual motivations and three distress indicators that affect their health and well-being. This chapter is based on survey results and interviews documenting 148 men’s sexual histories. This chapter provides implications for sexuality education for bisexual Latino men.
