Abstract

Historically, the first scientific journal, the Journal des Sçavans, was founded by Denis de Sallo in Paris more than three and a half centuries ago, precisely in January 1665. However, most historians claim that the first real scientific journal was initiated in March 1665 by Henry Oldenburg, the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society.1 In the meantime, we have come a long way—from hand writing to typing and, currently, submitting electronic texts. It is widely acknowledged that submitting an article to a journal is a demanding task for authors.
