Abstract

Whooping cough is an acute infectious and contagious disease of the respiratory system, caused by Bordetella Pertussis. The incidence has decreased dramatically in 1965 after the introduction of the vaccine. In last decades this pathology has reemerged. These increases have occurred despite sustained periods of high reported vaccine coverage. In 2017, whooping cough vaccination was introduced in the national vaccination program for pregnant women.
