Abstract

If public radio represents an important attempt to dent the concentrated structure of media control and consumption in Australia. the results so far have been limited. And the sector's development is presently hampered by lack of resources. This paper argues that conditions require public broadcasters to considers issues of participation and organisation. audiences and sponsorship, in more 'professional' ways, in order to achieve a greater social impact.
