Abstract

This paper briefly introduces wheat germ protein powder. The alleviating effect of wheat germ protein powder on muscle soreness was studied on 30 male athletes from the varsity volleyball team at the Faculty of Physical Education, Kunming University of Science and Technology. During the study, the athletes were divided into three groups: Group 1 received a kind of starch placebo, Group 2 received a low dose of wheat germ protein powder, and Group 3 received a high dose of wheat germ protein powder. Subjective pain, knee isokinetic muscle strength, and creatine kinase activity levels were measured at different time points before and after exercise. It was found that athletes who consumed wheat germ protein powder experienced faster alleviation of muscle soreness compared to those who took the starch placebo, and athletes who consumed a high dose of wheat germ protein powder demonstrated faster relief of muscle soreness compared to those who consumed a low dose.
