Abstract

Dispute Review Boards are used to resolve construction disputes between Owners and Contractors. This non-binding means of dispute resolution has been described as a cost-effective tool that creates a positive atmosphere for construction projects. While Dispute Review Boards have been used to successfully resolve disputes and avoid litigation, periodic critical review of the system should be made to determine if improvements are possible. Further, design engineers and construction managers have the responsibility of making Owners fully aware of the potential benefits and consequences of using the DRB process for underground construction projects.
