Abstract

When I am preparing editorials, I oscillate between various ideas, which can range from a multitude of diverse topics to a pessimistic nothing-is-good-enough mentality. One reason for this is lack of information or, more precisely, consumer feedback. Fundamentally I mightthink I know what the readership is interested in, but objectively I have little supporting information or evidence of what actually is on your wish list. Events such as the Dental Trade Exhibition and ourforthcoming conference in June give valuable opportunities for editorial staff of this journal to meet their public, and questionnaires have also been of help. In addition, the editorial team constantly network with dental nurses and canvas opinions. The views of the readership are of paramount importance to Dental Nursing. Our readers have the power to shape and drive not only the editorials but also the articles of the journal. To optimize the value of the journal and to ensure that the content is highly relevant, we need to constantly hear your views. One possible strategy for ensuring we get such insight on a regular basis is to have a Letters Page. Dental Nursing used to have a letters section, but sadly this seems to have fizzled out. I think that this is a great shame and I wonder if it would be prudent to resurrect a correspondence section as a regular feature in the journal?
