Abstract
The safety of a ship is dependent upon proper distribution of the cargo. Load planning is therefore an important task for ship officers. However, it can be a time consuming task, and various aids for speeding up and simplifying the operation have been devised.The paper discusses the benefits that are attainable when applying the most recent device, the computerized load calculator, to load planning on tankers.
