Abstract

Past and present work indicates associations of the suprarenal glands with numerous and varied activities of the body. Possible relations to metabolism may be indicated by morphologic changes in these glands resulting from dietary alterations. This investigation includes studies of the effects of vitamin E deficiency and fat deficiency. The suprarenal glands studied were obtained from 35 male and 141 female rats distributed between the experiments as follows: vitamin E deficiency, 91 female Wistar albino rats; fat deficiency, 22 male and 46 female Wistar albino rats.† An additional experiment, to be explained shortly, involved the use of 13 male and 4 female Wistar albino rats.
