Abstract
A simplified weight function technique for mixed-mode loading and mixed boundary value problems is proposed based on the concept of energy release rate. The Betti reciprocal theorem and superposition theorem are used in derivation of the weight function formula. The proposed new formula needs only the knowledge of crack line loading and the reference stress intensity factors, K 1 and k 2 . The method is easy to understand and to use.
