Abstract

Many options exist for using images in ArcGIS Online, including web mapping applications such as story maps. Each sound player shows the interactive web map next to it. Recall that story maps can be created from web maps in ArcGIS Online, because story maps use the same Web GIS platform, ArcGIS Online. Two rules of thumb are important when using images in web maps and story maps. First, ArcGIS Online and apps are continually evolving. Second, to be successful with using photos in ArcGIS Online, the following points are important: One, make sure the photographs are readers content that they have created themself, or they are in Creative Commons or are not copyrighted, or else they have permission to use them. If the image via its URL can be opened in a web browser tab, then it will work inside a web geographic information systems or a story map.
