Abstract

The paper is dedicated to weaving and textile industry in Laodicea in Syria during the late Roman time. Based on the data from the Edict on Maximum Prices and other sources the author makes a list and analyses in details kinds of textile manufactured in the city. Also the author considers salary of workers with cloth, characterizes the niche of Laodicean textile in inner market of the Roman Empire and in international trade. The article proves an outstanding role of weaving and textile industry for economic life of Laodicea.
