Abstract
The objective of the research was to analyse the impact of the ultrasonic vibration assistance on the wear resistance and topology enhancement of AISI 1045 cylindrical steel samples after a ball burnishing process. Burnishing process parameters such as burnishing force, number of passes and the assistance, or not, of a 40kHz vibration wave. A screening design of 3 factors with 2 central points was planned. An improvement in wear resistance and topology when the ultrasonic vibration assistance is applied, is expected due to the effects of the ball burnishing procedure on the microstructure of the samples.
