Abstract

The allowable wear depth of the positive continuous engagement (PCE)-type sprag clutch was constructed using the principle of homogeneous coordinate transformation. The wear depth was divided and the safety degree was evaluated. It was proposed that the variation range was divided into gradients and the relationship model between wear depth and wear time was constructed in the transmission state under unsteady fluctuation of input speed,and a new idea of wear analysis was constructed. The results show that the unsteady fluctuation of the input speed has a significant impact on the wear life of the sprag clutch. Reducing the amplitude of fluctuation can reduce the wear degree effectively.
