Abstract

Imitating the non-smooth theory of animal biont surface, various non-smooth units in different shape and distributing distance were processed on the 4Cr3Mo2NiVNb die steel by laser to improve the wear-resistance and life-span of die.The grinding abrasion wearability of various specimens with non-smooth surfaces and specimen with smooth surface was measured. The results show that the wear-resistances of specimens with non-smooth surfaces are all better than those of the specimen with smooth surface. The shape and distributing distance of non-smooth unit are obvious factors influencing the wear-resistance of non-smooth specimens becasuse they effect the area ratio and the hardness of non-smooth unit. The non-smooth unit with higher hardness can underprop load, prevent abrasive particles from penetrating into the matrix material and block the wear progress during wear process. The part with lower hardness can absorb energy and make the ploughing and paring of abrasive particle to the non-smooth surface change to roll. Thus the wearing degree of non-smooth material decreases and the wear-resistance is improved.
