Abstract

The non-smooth surfaces on the 3Cr2W8V steel that are similar to the surfaces of animal biont are obtained by laser processing imitating the wear-resistance effect of the non-smooth surface. The micro-hardness and the wear-resistance of the non-smooth surface materials are measured. The results show that the wear-resistances of various shape non-smooth materials are all better than that of the smooth material. The wear-resistance of non-smooth surface changed along with the variety of non-smooth shape. The wear-resistance of reticulate shape non-smooth surface material whose distributing distance is smaller is the best in the experiments. The higher hardness of non-smooth unit would prevent abrasive particles from penetrating into the matrix material, sever the ploughing and paring of abrasive particles to material, and block the wear progress during wear process, so that the wear-resistance is improved.
