Abstract

In this paper Vanadium pentoxide was synthesis and coated on Magnesium AZ31B Alloy by using Dip coating process. The presence of vanadium pentoxide was studied using FTIR and EDAX testing and Profilometer study tomeasure the surface roughness. The coated specimen are then analyzed for its wear test and corrosion test through potentostat and impedance test and it corrosion rate was calculated. The morphology study of the corroded sample was studied through SEM analysis. It was observed that V-treated layer improvesthe wear rate and the corrosion resistance of the V- treated Magnesium sample reduces considerably.
