Abstract

This paper presents a review of the behavior of wear Characteristics of Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites reinforced with fly ash developed by different processes. The advantages of Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) of Aluminum are high strength to weight ratio, high erosion and wear resistance with comparatively low cost. They are suitable in different fields of applications like structural, marine, aerospace, defense, automobile division due to its thermal stability and incredible specific strength. The effects of various fly ash reinforcements on wear behavior by highlighting their merits and demerits have been reviewed rigorously. The effects of fly ash percentage, temperature, time, applied load and speed, as well as the sliding distance on wear rate, are discussed in detail in this study.
