Abstract

The results of radio frequency absorption studies in GdBCO sintered pellet are reported. The temperature-dependent absorption is found to follow London's two-fluid expression with large effective penetration depth, which has contributions from both grain penetration depth and Josephson penetration depth. Field-induced absorption is found to have contributions from both the resistively shunted Josephson junctions and the decoupled junctions. It is also reported that at radio frequencies field-induced absorption (for fields below 50 mT) arising from the flux flow is absent.
