Research Article| April 01 2019 “We have now the Territory on wheels”: Direct and Collateral Costs of the 1858 Move South Kenneth L. Alford Kenneth L. Alford KENNETH L. ALFORD is a professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. Prior to BYU, he served as a computer science professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and as a professor of strategic leadership and organizational behavior at the National Defense University in Washington, DC. After almost thirty years of active duty military service in a wide variety of assignments, he retired in 2008 as a US Army Colonel.
