Abstract

We compare two terrestrial transmission experiments at 32/spl times/10 Gb/s over standard single-mode fiber and over nonzero dispersion-shifted fiber. Despite the same signal-to-noise ratios at receiver end, error-free transmission of the whole multiplex could only be achieved with the first fiber scheme.
