Abstract
The basic element of any substance is the atom which decides the kind of structure. The structure may be of zero, one, two or even three dimensional by figure. Here we talk about a material which is artificially developed with periodic arrangement of unit cell (atom), possessing some peculiar characteristics not seen in natural material and behave differently. The unusualness observed or found due to its intrinsic properties (µ & ε are negative). The speciality about the structure is that the size of the unit cell is much smaller than the guided wavelengths like behaving homogeneous medium at macroscopic scale. In this letter we tried to explain the simple structure called metamaterial (SRR) and some of its practical application pertaining to filter and antenna.
