Abstract

We demonstrated the output power improvement of a self-frequency-doubling (SFD) green laser in Nd3+-doped La2CaB10O19 (Nd:LCB) crystal. The spectra were measured and calculated by the Judd-Ofelt theory [1,2], which provide the design guides for the SFD lasers. Taking advantage of energy level splitting of Nd3+ ions, the output power of 1.7 W SFD green laser was realized with a monolithic configuration at the wavelength of 540 nm because of avoiding the intrinsic absorption of Nd3+ ions, which represent the highest output power in the Nd:LCB crystal. This work not only develops a promising SFD laser crystal, but also provides an effective way for the improvement of the SFD laser output power.
