Abstract

The Punjab province of Pakistan, heavily dependent on river waters, is vulnerable to both excessive monsoon floods and dry drought years. Climate Change Action Plans for Water Security provide the hallmark for developmental process in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. These are based on the National Climate Change Policy (NCCP) for Pakistan. This preparatory process is linked with the IPCC’s scientific analysis of climate change. The IPCC’s AR5 2014 builds upon the earlier reports to emphasize the existence and possible preparatory paths for the climate change. All provinces of Pakistan, including the Punjab province need to prepare for climate change according to the suggested guidelines in the NCCP for Pakistan.
