Abstract

1. 1. Rates of water loss for Rabdotus schiedeanus varies inversely with shell-free weight and aperture area among deat snails, but these factors did not influence water loss in living animas. 2. 2. Greater water-loss rates were found for dead snails than for inactive one, suggesting cutaneous regulation 3. 3. Small snails drank and retained proportionately greater amounts of water than did large snails. 4. 4. Oxygen consumption at 25°C increased with increasing humidity.
