Abstract

The article deals with features and possibilities of using physical methods of ultraviolet radiation and ultrasonic treatment for disinfecting contaminated waters. The conclusions about the ineffectiveness of these methods in terms of high energy consumption, the lack of synergistic effects, and the danger of destruction of technical devices from their impacts are analyzed. The review of the recent Russian and foreign studies has revealed the effectiveness of disinfecting industrial wastewater from various pathogenic organisms using ultraviolet and ultrasonic impacts. It is concluded that a combination of these methods in water treatment gives positive results.
