Abstract

A systematic study with silver iodide, involving double-layer measurements, stability studies, and electrokinetics, leads to the conclusion that the electrokinetic potential ζ and the outer Helmholtz plane potential ψ d coincide within experimental error. Consequently, there are no thick stagnant water layers at the interface. The same is concluded for flow in thin liquid films.
