Abstract
Understanding the chemistry of formation of various topologies of hydrogen‐bonded water clusters in different crystal hydrates is essential to get more insights into the behavior of water at the molecular level. Structural studies on various polymeric forms of water such as 1D‐chains, tapes and 2D sheets will further enhance the understanding of their formation in diverse environments. 1D water chains are of great interest as many fundamental biological processes are associated with their unique properties. However, the predictability and rational design of 1D water morphologies still remains a challenge. This paper gives an account of our interesting results on various water aggregates in the form of 1D hydrogen‐bonded water chains and clusters hosted by the metal coordination complexes containing reduced Schiff base and other ligands from our laboratory.
