Abstract
Examines the nature of the illness that took place at Cowan Bridge Clergy Daughters' School in 1825. A distinction is made between typhoid infection caused by the contamination of food and water supplies, and true, louse-borne, typhus. After examining the surviving evidence, the author concludes that the illness was probably one of the paratyphoids caused by poor kitchen hygiene.
