Abstract

Warfarin is an anticoagulant drug that is a delayed-acting vitamin K antagonist. It has numerous interactions with food products (e.g. spinach, kale, green lettuce, cauliflower, avocado, pistachios, onion, garlic, cranberry and grapefruit juice), dietary supplements (St. John's wort, ginseng, sage, chamomile) and others medications. Therefore, patients should be educated about the interactions that may occur after taking the drug, as well as what products and their amounts they can consume so that they do not affect the metabolism of warfarin.
