Abstract

Bringing the poet’s body to Wawel in 1890 became an event of international significance. Due to its multiculturalism, Lviv was of special importance. From the perspective of the administrative capital, the celebrations created an opportunity to build a national unity of a supra-ethnic nature based on Polish culture. On the other hand, they revealed the growing Polish-Ukrainian antagonism. The celebration of bringing the body of A. Mickiewicz to Kraków also became a catalyst for the development of research on the literature of Romanticism.
