Abstract
The Danube as metaphor for a nations culture, people, language, traditions, possibly political and social systems sets the ideal background for developing a barge as a social events hub. Taking this to the next level a barge placed on the river is no longer a building, boat or an urban intervention, it can be regarded as a work of art. Here a barge has been developed in such a fashion as to function on many levels ranging from its primary purpose as an events location, social tool and focal point reflecting not only itself but also its social/economic context.
