Abstract

Remuneration is a key function of human resource management. In order to remain competitive, companies are forced to adapt their remuneration systems to changes in the internal and external environment. This paper aims to map the development of remuneration systems in Slovak companies and assess the extent to which they correspond to international trends. The paper is based on the results of research carried out in 2006, 2013, and 2019. The findings show that the globally applied trend of total remuneration is also being applied in our country and that companies approach the remuneration of their employees holistically. The involvement of line managers in the implementation of remuneration is increasing. A weakness is linking remuneration to corporate culture, which remains an untapped area.
