Abstract

In order to join two rectangular waveguides of different cross-sectional dimensions waveguide tapers are used. There is possibility of high reflection losses and mode conversion in the tapered region in general. Here we have made theoretical investigation of VSWR of waveguide tapers with truncated Gaussian mode conversion distribution function and also experimentally found that the reflection losses and losses due to mode conversion in such tapers are very very small.
