Abstract

The Sp (3, R ) and CM (3) nuclear collective models are given simple expressions as hydrodynamic models with wavefunctions comprising collective (irrotational flow) and intrinsic (vortex) components. The intrinsic wavefunctions for Sp (3, R ) and CM (3) are shown to have SU (3) and SO (3) structures, respectively, and to be compatible with the microscopic structure of the nucleus as a system of interacting neutrons and protons. It is hoped that such an expression of the CM (3) and Sp (3, R ) models in terms of a vorticity augmented irrotational flow model will stimulate interest in them as hydrodynamic models of the nucleus.
