Abstract

We have measured the vortex diffusivity in thin superfluid helium films adsorbed on a gold substrate at temperatures from 0.35 to 2.0 K. A quartz microbalance is operated at different frequencies and the diffusivity is extracted from the observed shifts of the transitions. Effects of pre-plating of the substrate with hydrogen on the vortex diffusivity were observed.
