Abstract

Resume Theoretical and experimental investigations of the factors which affect the volumetric efficiency of a rolling piston compressor have been made. The results show that a trend in the theoretical volumetric efficiency agrees fairly well with the experimental one, and that gas leakage through clearances, as well as the temperature rise of the suction gas, strongly affects the volumetric efficiency. In addition, the effect of measurement errors on the calculated volumetric efficiency was estimated quantitatively.
