Abstract

Rotating platinum electrodes of different shapes have been used in the present study to investigate the influence of the geometry on the electrode process. Simple wire, triangular, and disc shaped electrodes have been utilized in the study of Fe(II)-Fe(III) system. The electrode processes were found to be most irreversible with disc electrode and least with wire electrode. In the reduction of Fe(III), the half-wave potential values were found to be most positive with wire electrode and least positive with disc electrode. The reverse was found to be true in the case of oxidation of Fe(II).
