Abstract

The pre-concentration and voltammetric detection of khellin in phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) at a DNA-coated carbon paste electrode is described. The anodic wave of khellin intercalated with DNA, covalently immobilized onto the surface of an anodically activated carbon paste electrode, measured in background electrolyte, was utilized for the determination of the drug. The response is characterized with respect to pre-concentration time, scan rate, khellin concentration, and other variables. By differential pulse voltammetry, the calibration plot is linear in the range 5 × 10 −8 to 1 × 10 −7 M with a detection limit of 1 × 10 −8 M. The adsorptive transfer stripping voltammetry approach was utilized for the determination of khellin in doped serum. A method is also developed for the determination of khellin in dosage form.
