Abstract

This paper presents the report on preparation and application of the Metallic Annular Band Electrode (MeABE) for differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) determination of riboflavin (vitamin B2). For the construction of electrodes, the bare metallic bismuth, silver and gold were used. The electrochemical behavior of riboflavin on MeABE has been investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The acetate buffer (pH 4.5) was used as the most favorable supporting electrolyte. Under optimal conditions, the peak current was proportional to the concentration of riboflavin in the range; 10–337, 20–249, 10–298 μg L−1, and detection limits were; 2.4, 5.2, 2.8 μg L−1 for BiABE, AgABE and AuABE, respectively. In case of BiABE the presented results were obtained with accumulation time of 30 s. The proposed electrodes were successfully applied for determination of riboflavin in pharmaceutical samples and optimized voltammetric procedure was validated by studying the recovery of analyte.
