Abstract
45 cases (52 eyes) of non-diabetic vitreous hemorrhage, including 21 cases of Eales' disease, 20 cases of retinal venous obstruction, 4 cases of SMD etc. had visual acuities of 0.05 or less, except 1 eye of 0.4. After pars plana vitrectomy, some in combination with scleral encircling, vision in 62.7% of the eyes reached 0.1 or over, while 80.7% showed improvement. The points of note during operation, the proper timing of the surgery and complications were discussed.
