Abstract
A new observation method was developed for visualizing subgrain structure on the chemical–mechanically polished surface of a ferritic heat-resisting steel that contained 12 mass% chromium and 2 mass% tungsten, using field emission-type scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The backscattered electron images revealed clearly visualized subgrain structures that were not influenced by the presence of precipitated particles.
