Abstract

There is a widely accepted concept that sentimental people are much more than rational people. People usually make their purchasing choices by visual perceptions. In this study, we want to gain the main visual perceptions of materials in some special furnitures in the early phases in user experience design. We used Ethnography and self-reporting to study. We discovered that the main visual perceptions of materials in furniture user experience design of the target users in the near future of the next 1-2 years are comfortable, emotional, and simple. We proposed three basic solutions of emotional user experience design, which were based on context and scenarios. The actual demand of the target users could be more easily understood by designers, and more visual solutions could be used by designers.
