Abstract
This study aimed at studying the dynamics of domestic violence. This qualitative study explores the experiences of women who have been victims of domestic violence. The data were derived from 6 Focus Group Discussions with 30 victims. The discussion revealed that the principal causes of violence were unequal power relations, sexual abuse and extra-marital affairs, jealousy and isolation, poverty and dependence on partner, alcohol and drugs abuse. The findings reveal that the factors that trigger violence against women are closely intertwined. Gender & Behaviour Vol.3 2005: 383-395
