Abstract

In the article the issues of the state border regime, its institutional and legal provision were researched. The problem of ensuring the state border regime was studied on the example of the Soviet-Polish border of the interwar period (1921-1939 ). The political peculiarities of the establishment of the Soviet-Polish border were investigated, which influenced its instability and systematic violations of the regime. It was revealed that the violation of the regime of the Soviet-Polish border, first of all, appeared illegitimate in itscrossing. It was emphasized that illegal migration of the population on both sides of the border was explained by the artificiality of the established border, the low degree of social and political loyalty of the population to it. The reasons for the violation of the regime of the Soviet-Polish border during 1921‒1939 were generalized. The process of counteraction to illegal migration both from Poland and from the side of the USSR was researched. The improvement of the legal and institutional factors in the fight against the violation of the Soviet-Polish border regime was characterized. The significance of the retrospective analysis of the Soviet-Polish border within the interwar period for contemporary Ukrainian political sciencewas outlined.
