Abstract
Technological advances in digital media create new opportunities of visual communication for the viewer as well as artistic expressions. Digital media help maximizing interactions with the viewer through various methods of communication in the art work. However, an art work depending only on digital technology can limit viewers' ability to interact with the art work. The best way of interactive communication in art work can be achieved through the integration of the viewer generated experience and physical reaction on the perceptual level and digital sources of information on mechanical level. Herein, this research focuses on designing an interactive media art consisting of a Braille method as the viewer generated visual communication. This installation provides a synesthetic experience to the viewer with audiovisual and tactile senses. In this dynamic, educational and playful platform, the viewer can control and create a new way of communication pattern beyond a traditional single medium based communication method. Also this experimental work proposes the potential usage of integrated sense elements for visually impaired users as well as general viewers in order to resolve the limitation of interaction between the art work and the viewer.
