Abstract

The article deals with the issue of improving the language and intercultural competencies of students using videoconferencing in the university educational process. In the context of modern requirements of the educational standard and teaching methods, teaching a foreign language at a university is aimed at the formation and development of intercultural communicative competence of the student’s personality, which determines the ability to apply the acquired professional knowledge and skills to behavior and communication in various fields of activity. Language and intercultural competences are integral components of a person’s communicative competence, they provide possession of target knowledge and means necessary for communication, depending on the communicative task, taking into account the rules, norms and traditions of verbal and non-verbal behavior of representatives of another socio-cultural environment. The efficiency of the competencies formed as a result of the educational process depends on the content of educational programs, the chosen techniques, methods and means of organizing training, which reflect the trends and realities of the modern multicultural world based on the interactive exchange of knowledge and ideas by means of information and communication technologies. The article provides a substantiation of the practical significance of using videoconferencing in the classroom when learning a foreign language, based on a methodological study of the educational activities of students, the purpose of which was to improve the language and intercultural competencies of students in the process of virtual communication with representatives of other countries on the topic of perception of national stereotypes about France and the French.
