Abstract
There has long been a need for a fairly elementary text and guide to the literature on the vibrational spectroscopy of solids, and Dr Sherwood is to be congratulated on producing this concise textbook which will be found useful by physicists as well as the chemists for whom it is primarily intended. The monograph is mainly devoted to the analysis and interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra of solids.
