Abstract

The infrared and Raman spectra of 2,4,6-tribromobenzonitrile have been recorded in the solid state and in solutions. Assignments of the fundamental vibrations based on Raman polarization data and comparison with the spectra of benzonitrile and its trichloro derivative are given and discussed. The thermodynamic functions have been evaluated for a rigid-rotor harmonic oscillator approximation at several temperatures.
